The details for the 3rd in the series of Olympic Games Lanes Access Demonstrations are as follows…
Friday 27th July 2012
5pm
Hyde Park Corner
This will be a ‘Mass Ply For Hire’ Drive In
Please turn you ‘For Hire’ light on.
If you are a Suburban driver please turn you ‘For Hire’ light off and wear your seatbelt.
Please spread this message to your colleagues by word of mouth, text, email, Twitter, Facebook and other social media outlets.
We have all had to endure the restrictions they have placed on our city over the past few days, it is going to be impossible for us to do our job.
We must gain access to the Olympic Games lanes!
See you there.

Please can we AT LEAST keep the Demo going for the stipulated time ( 2 hrs?) rather than stopping when the police decide it’s getting effective!

Frankly, I don’t care who is inconvenienced by a protest as the “Olympic Gods” and their cronies Coe and Johnson have shafted the London taxi trade with every aspect of these games. My enthusiasm for the games themselves is being depleted by their arrogant disregard of licensed drivers trying to earn a living while corporate pigs feed at the trough. Make this one work!

Just tried to go on the Anderson shelter blog page and it’s been taken down, maybe these protests are getting to the powers that be and now there playing dirty, so no info can get out about the next demo. Keep fighting till the end..

Firstly, I hope “The Man From Del Monte” is ok and did not receive too much of a bollocking for the dive he made a “Tom Daly” 10 out of 10 from Tower Bridge on Monday although I know he was nicked on a public order offence We should all have His Courage and resolve that made his diving into the Thames protest a major point not be wasted or without credit to him, I’m there Friday and view this protest exactly like when we did the knowledge, We didn’t give up then …kept going ..and got there, so see all you lot there on Friday!

As a ex member of lcdc it’s great to see the ucg taking firm action, who knows if we will get access to these lanes, but sitting back doing nothing like other organisations won’t achieve it, so let’s make this one count.

Hear hear John, I to an a ex member of LCDC, lots of guys are fuming with LCDC and those silly old bastards at woodfield road are responible for this shambles. Pls fellow drivers if you care for our trade then leave those useless prats. They are all ex old bill, on big pensions, and have not driven a cab since Oliver Cromwell time.UCG are the way forward young People who have fire in there belly. TFL have treated us appalling, and now we must stand together and fight. Remember Oddy and Co have allowed everything that has gone wrong, and have done nothing.

I have just seen issued by the Metropolitan Police at 17:55 on Thursday 26th July 2012. Public Order legislation has been invoked. However, the notice says that Particpants (presumably that is anyone who takes part in the demonstration?) are not allowed North of the Thames between 16:00 on Friday 27th July 2012 and 03:00 on Saturday 28th July 2012. Perhaps the Metropolitan Police thinks that Londoners don’t want or need Taxis north of the river on a Friday evening?
