At the request of the Police we have brought this demonstration forward 30 mins, the new start time will be…
Tower Bridge
Monday 23rd July
at
3.30pm
We have agreed with this request so as to co-operate with the police who will be affording us the same courtesy.
We have agreed a specified route (see map below) which we would urge drivers to adhere to.
Should the traffic be brought to a standstill drivers will be allowed to stand near their cabs, but must be ready to drive their vehicles away should the traffic move, or they are requested to do so by a police officer.
Please comply with all requests from the police at all times.
Please alert all your colleagues to this start time change, see you at Tower Bridge.

Generally I am not in favour of demonstrations but this is the London Olympics and London Taxis should be playing a major part in it. What the world will see is an Olympics dominated by American Corporations and Games lanes full of German BMW cars. We must remind Boris and his cronies that we do more for London than drive “Iconic Vehicles”.

I recently had a couple tourists in my cab who came from Los Angeles, they told of their enjoyment of the games held there in 1984 and how the city “Emptied out” by the locals in anticipation … and stayed relatively so for much of the time it was on, I have never seen such a shortage of work (the last week) in all the years I have driven a Taxi, coupled with the hoards of “Privately supplied” carriers who have complete access (one way or another)
The organisers have completely forgotten & Misjudged our workforce and supply ethos, and it is to that end I will be there today, I was at the Parliament Square drive in and hope the parasites who passed us (cabdrivers fully loaded) keep well away today, it is insulting that short sighted and quick for a buck driverrs have made this job the way it now is, come on all….GET BEHIND US AS ONE.

These demo’s are a total waste of time, they are not going to change anything. What is needed is to block the so called zil lanes and the embankment is the obvious place. It would need cabbies who are prepared to face a £130 fine as I am to block the lane and the the normal traffic lane at several different places along the route.Get others who are prepared to do this in the next week and I will be there, otherwise just put up with the statos quo as we have been for as long as I can remember and that spans 50yrs.

I don’t think its drivers can’t be bothered, its more they know its a waste of time. We’re getting totally shafted here, yet were arranging demos and being too compliant. The authorities are laughing at us. Id like to know if these two demos have made one bit of a difference. So for me its forget the demos, put the word out to ignore the game lanes get everybody working in them, by that I mean all traffic, if and when the fines come through, challenge every one.

Has to be total blockage, zil lanes, tunnels at Heathrow, or a few bridges, otherwise they just sit it out and we lose, and why do we keep finishing Demo’s early????
