About us

The United Cabbies Group was formed by Licensed London Taxi drivers who are concerned with the current state that the taxi trade is in.

Whilst some of the established trade organisations waste their time, energy and member’s money with petty infighting, our trade is in serious trouble.

The UCG are not prepared to just sit back and watch it die!

Our aim is to unify this trade and stand shoulder to shoulder to try and resolve all the problems that the Taxi trade currently faces.

This will only be achieved with your support.

We are 100% democratic ( 1 badge = 1 vote ) and all members of the UCG are vetted to ensure they hold a green or yellow London Taxi driver’s license.

We are primarily a pressure group that is not affiliated to any other trade organisation, however, our members also belong to a cross section of these groups, and some are not a member of any.

Our membership is free, and the organisers and active members do not receive a single penny in stand down pay. All our efforts are voluntary.

We seek to resolve the taxi trade’s problems with either dialogue or militant action voted for by the majority verdict of our membership.

The Feb 5th 2009 demonstration at Trafalgar Square organised by the other established trade organisations was very well supported, however we believe the hard work and effort by the rank & file Taxi drivers that attended was wasted because the organisers failed to keep up the pressure on the Authorities with further action.

This was a mistake we will not make!

The UCG will also support any group we feel is fighting a worthy cause for the good of the London Taxi trade.
